Too soon to gaze upon tiny fingers and toes, bruised hands and feet from too many needles and blood tests. Too soon to take any of it in. I don’t think about that time very often. The whole nine weeks went in a blur of premature experiences. Tubes and wires and alarms beeping in some machinery induced cha

With the publication of Science today, we get two announcements of the discovery of exoplanets. Hubble has announced the discovery of a planet around the star Fomalhaut (suspected in 2005 but now confirmed) and a team using the Gemini and Keck telescopes have found three planets around the star HR8799. Go over to Sarah for more details. Funnily enough I was looking at a picture of Fomalhaut’s dust disc at Halloween a couple of weeks ago. I suggest the new planet orbiting Fomalhaut be named Plan

Women fight with emotion and attitude, and men fight with ego — often leaving technique out the window,” said Muay Thai fighter Christine Toledo. She should know. Her fierce powerhouse punches won her acclaim in 2007 as she became ranked number one in the United States and number three internationally by the Women’s International Kickboxing Association. She earned her nickname, Blade, after fights often ended in blood from cuts inflicted on her opponents. On Nov. 15, the flyweight champion wi

So perhaps as a backup measure, the UFC is adding Nate Marquardt into the list of potential candidates. We’ve mentioned in the past that Nate Marquardt has the personality of a cardboard cutout, but we also pr

A report on their work is published in the 13 November edition of the journal Nature. Gaining insight into the mechanisms of heterogeneous catalysts could lead to improved or novel catalysts. So far, scanning probe microscopy methods have been used to study inorganic catalyst phases at sub-nanometer resolution, but detailed chemical information of the materials in
